The town is situated in the valley of river Jizera in the west part of Giant mountains. First mentioned in 14th century. In pre-Hussite epoch the White Monk´s abbey. The interesting is the Baroque church with devices of Harrachs´ and Ditrichsteins´ from the end of 18th century. Several examples of typical folks architecture are prooved in the town. Today is Jablonec a well known centre of summer and winter recreation. On the slopes of Kamenny occurs several ski slopes and downhill courses.
