Pec pod Snezkou - Krkonoše

The full English translation of the name Pec pod Snezkou is "The furnace under Snow Mountain", and this gives us hints to its location and to its past. Located in the eastern part of Krkonoše directly under Snezka (Snow Mountain) 1602 m., Pec pod Snezkou, with a permanent population of 600, used to be a copper mining town. It has now become a popular holiday resort both in winter and in summer, with good hotels and traditional pensions spread throughout the area. Because of its location high up in Krkonose, 756 m, it is a perfect base for skiing holidays and hiking tours. The resort has many ski lifts, restaurants, pubs, discos and other facilities for tourists. One can take the chair lifts operating from Pec pod Snezkou to the top of Snezka and anybody visiting "Pec" should experience it, the view from the peak is unforgettable! There is another chair lift in the area that runs from Velká Upa to Portasky.
