Vrchlabi - Krkonose - Giant mountains

Vrchlabi is a picturesque mountain town with nearly 13 000 inhabitants, situated in the valley of the Elbe River upstream. It is an ideal starting point to the highest Czech mountains and the law called the gateway to the Giant Mountains. . There are a lot of ski, hiking and biking opportunities, as well as a number of historical sights. The view is certainly a Renaissance chateau from the 16th century, gable burgher houses with arcades, or Augustinian Monastery at the beginning of the 18th century. In the monastery, and three historic houses in the Square of Peace is now a museum exhibition Krkonoše with many historical and natural collections. Many fans have already received Beerfest held in the square T. G. Masaryk on the first August Saturday, Vrchlabská musical summer - regular Sunday series of concerts of classical music in the monastic church, or the February Jazz Festival Jazzlabí in urban cinema. Towards the Spindleruv Mlyn, in the section called Herlíkovice, there is the popular ski area. The local chair-lift can be used in summer for hiking and cycling trips, or just the prospect of a stone tower on Mount Žalý (1019 m).
